Past president of county medical society
William Hoge Kittrell, 73, of Marco Island, Fla., died Saturday, March 7, 1998.

He was born April 24, 1924, in Mt. Pleasant, Tenn., the son of Will H. and Mary Hoge Kittrell.
Dr. Kittrell was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy, attended Vanderbilt and Emery universities and graduated from Baylor University School of Medicine, Houston, Texas. Until his retirement in 1990, he practiced in McMurray, and was on the staff of Washington Hospital. He was past president of the Washington County Medical Society and Peters Township Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Kittrell was a medical officer with the U.S. Navy and served in Korea as a battalion surgeon with the Marines.
In Florida, he had been active with Senior Friendship Center in Naples, United Church of Marco Island and a member of the board of trustees for the Marco Health Center. He was a member of Marco Mens Club, Golf Club at Marco and Collier County Racquet Center.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Anne Shelby of New Albany, Ind., and Susan McSweeney of Palm Harbor, Fla; a son, Ralph D. Kittrell of Morrestown, N.J.; and eight grandchildren, Hunter, Carolyn and Andrew Shelby, Sarah, David and Steven Kittrell and Travis and Jenna McSweeney.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at the United Church of Marco Island.
