John C. Durko, 77, of Nemacolin, formerly of Cokeburg, died at 1:15 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 1998, in Washington County Health Care Center, Washington, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Durko was a member of St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church in Carmichaels and the Polish Association of Mount Pleasant. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. He retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. and lived in Nemacolin for four years. His first wife, Helen Zoldak Durko, is deceased. His second wife, Helen M. Miller Durko, who he married October 12, 1992, survives. Also surviving are three sons, John G. Durko of Front Royal, Va., Richard P. Durko of Erie and Michael Durko of Marianna; two stepdaughters, Carol Hall of Lexington, N.C. and Patricia Ann Drewniak of Fredericksburg; four grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren; four brothers, Frank Durko of Bentleyville, Steve Durko of Charleroi and Joseph and George Durko, both of Cokeburg; three sisters, Stella Racz of Little Falls, N.J., Rita Calandrello of Toms River, N.J., and Ann Gennaro of Towaco, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
