Samuel H. Buckels, 80, of Beechview Street, Houston, died Saturday, March 14, 1998, in the Allegheny University Hospital-Canonsburg. He lived in the Houston area for most of his life and was a graduate of Trinity High School. Mr. Buckels was a member of the First Christian Church in Canonsburg, where he was a past board chairman, deacon and elder emeritus. He also served for two years as president of Tri-County Men's Fellowship. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army as corporal with the 437th Signal Construction Battalion. Before his retirement in 1985, he was employed as an overhead craneman for 17 years by the former Pennsylvania Transformer and Cooper Power Systems in Canonsburg. He was a member of American Legion Post 902, Houston. On March 7, 1945, he married Jane T. England, who survives. Also surviving are three brothers, Paul Buckels of Eighty Four, Lloyd Buckels of Ormand Beach, Fla., and James Buckels of Sevierville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
