William Kotch

WW II veteran served during Nuremberg Trials
William Kotch, 69, of Nemacolin, died at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 1998, in his home.

He was born March 25, 1928, in Tower Hill 2, Fayette County, a son of Mike and Angelia Popovich Kotch.
Mr. Kotch was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church of Carmichaels R.D. 1, where he served as a tutor for many years and was a member of the choir.
He retired from Nemacolin Mine and had also worked at the Carmichaels and Jefferson Senior Centers.
Mr. Kotch was a founding member of the Crucible Volunteer Fire Department, volunteered as a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 558 of Edinburg, Ohio, and was a member of the UMWA Nemacolin Local 6290.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving as an M.P. during the Nuremberg Trials, and was a member of Cumberland American Legion Post 400 of Carmichaels.
On December 5, 1953, he married Edna Lee Hepler, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Guy William Kotch of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Mark James Kotch of Beaver and Charles Michael Kotch of Stow, Ohio; two daughters, Cynthia Rose of Carmichaels and Emily Trainor of Cuyahoga Falls; 15 grandchildren; a brother, Daniel Kotch of Allison Park; twin sisters, Delores Conlin of Pittsburgh and Doris "Muchie" Kotch of Crucible; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four brothers, Nick, Peter, George and Steve Kotch; and three sisters, Annie Kotch, who died in infancy, and Amy Niemetz and Minnie Garone.
