Benjamin Franklin Lewis III, 68, of McDonald, died Saturday, February 28, 1998, in St. Clair Memorial Hospital, Mt. Lebanon.

He was born July 15, 1929, in McDonald, a son of Benjamin Franklin Jr. and Henrietta Purdy Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was a 1948 graduate of McDonald High School.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS DesMoines.
Before retiring in 1991, he was employed for 43 years as a supervisor by O'Hommell Co. in Carnegie.
He was a member of Chartiers Lodge 297 F&AM of Canonsburg, a former commander of American Legion Post 485 and a 1968 master of Garfield Lodge No. 604.
On August 20, 1955, he married Gene Vanhorenbeck, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Debbie J. Pusateri and Gayle Shaffer, both of McDonald; a sister, Viola Klimas of McDonald; and three grandchildren, Ernie Jr., Michelle and Jason Pusateri.
