Catherine Sperl Linn, 85, of Girard Township, formerly of West Springfield, Waterford and Washington, died Thursday, March 19, 1998, in Pleasant Ridge Manor Care, Girard Township. Mrs. Linn was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Washington, where she participated in the Christian Mothers group. She later attended Our Lady of the Lakes Church, Waterford. A 1929 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, she was employed for 24 years at the G.C. Murphy Co. store in Washington until her retirement in 1974. Mrs. Linn enjoyed playing cards, playing the piano and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On June 10, 1940, in Immaculate Conception Church, with the Rev. Martin J. Hughes officiating, she married Harry "Bud" Linn, who died in 1965. Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Maggi of Claysville, Louise Keeler of West Springfield and Mary Oberley of Waterford; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to her husband, are two brothers, Carl and Louis "Red" Sperl; and four sisters, Celia and Josephine Sperl, Therese Stauffer and Marie Meneely.
