Bomber pilot was prisoner of war in Germany
Allan B. Lemley, 76, Oakland, Md., formerly of Waynesburg, died February 7, 1998, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.

He was born June 29, 1921, in Waynesburg, son of Floyd N. and Mary Haines Lemley.
Mr. Lemley was a businessman and land developer. He graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1939.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Lemley served as a B-17 bomber pilot and was shot down over Stuttgart, Germany. He served 18 months as a prisoner of war.
After his discharge in 1945, Mr. Lemley returned to Waynesburg and was involved with the Greene County Airport as an instructor and later as a pilot with several industrial companies.
He also operated the airport restaurant for a short period of time. Mr. Lemley then owned and operated a Lincoln Mercury in Monongahela.
Mr. Lemley was member of the Waynesburg Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 757. In Oakland he was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 2481 and the Proctor Kildow American Legion Post 71.
Mr. Lemley enjoyed flying as both a career and hobby. It was his first love.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanne B. Lemley; two sons, Don A. Lemley, Oakland and Bear Lemley, Scottsdale, Ariz.; two daughters, Denise A. Muenchow, Oakland and Mary Ann Graehm, London, England; two sisters, Vaun Graham, Library and Freda Morris, Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Services and burial with military honors were held Tuesday, February 10, 1998, in Oakland.
