Philip W. Stinger, 93, of Brownsville, died at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 1998. He was a member of Brownsville Wesleyan Methodist Church. In 1957, he retired from Vesta 4 Mine, and he was a member of District 4 UMWA. Surviving are seven daughters, Cleota Grant of Seattle, Wash., Ruth Prugh of Brookfield, Ohio; Viola Novosel and Louise Pascale, both of Brownsville; Clara Bohatch of Mentor, Ohio; Thelma Arneson of Pittsburgh, and Wanda Field of Uniontown; four sons, Eli Stinger of Cleveland, Ohio; Walter Stinger of Eighty Four; Joe Stinger of Kansas City, Mo., and Emil Stinger of Uniontown; a sister, Caroline Duff of Fairless Hills; 38 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Deceased are his wife, Mildred Viola Stinger, who died in 1988; a son, Philip Stinger, who died in 1997; two daughters, Doris Wolfe, who died in 1994, and Shirley Ann Stinger, who died in infancy; three brothers; and three sisters.
