Samuel Peter Passantino Jr., 47, of Chapel Hill, N.C., died Saturday, May 9, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. A native of Washington, Mr. Passantino was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and was employed by MCI Communications. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the American Legion Post 6. Surviving are a son, Samuel Salvatore Passantino of Chapel Hill; two daughters, Katherine and Anna Passantino, both of Chapel Hill; a brother, Paul Passantino of Aliquippa; and a sister, Dolores Neslanik of Fremont, Ohio. Services will be private and burial is in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, in care of Paul Neslanik, 89 River Run Drive, Fremont, OH 43420.
