Laura J. Straight Meek, 72, of Waynesburg R.D.4, died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 1998, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. Mrs. Meek was a lifelong resident of Greene County and worked as a seamstress for Greenway Manufacturing Co., Waynesburg, for 30 years before retiring in 1988. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Ruff Creek, and had attended First Baptist Church in Waynesburg. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Greene County. On February 19, 1945, she married Arthur Meek, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Brenda Boyd; and a son, Terry R. Meek, both of Waynesburg; four grandchildren, Terry R. Meek II and Robin, Timothy and Robert Boyd II; two sisters, Betty Tanner of Waynesburg and Ruth Carney of Winter Springs, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a grandson, Todd Allen Boyd; two sisters, Opal Bennington and Ortolla Rush; and four brothers, Edwin, Charles, Roy and Dewey Straight.
