Charles E. Martin, 85, of Avella, died at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 1998, in Humbert Lane Health Care Center, Washington. Mr. Martin worked on his dairy farm in Hopewell Township, and also worked 40 years for the Jessop Steel Corp., retiring in 1972. He was a former member of the Hickory United Presbyterian Church and a member of the United Steel Workers Local 1030. On December 26, 1932, he married Nina Powelson, his wife of 65 years, who survives. Also surviving, are two sons, Donald W. and Charles E. Martin Jr. both of Avella; a daughter, Dolores Jean Molnar of Avella; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Cecelia Lantz of Mechanicsburg. Deceased are five sisters, Grace M. Miller, Helen Hall, Betty Surace, Hazel Robinson and Marie Foster; one brother, William H. Martin; and two sons, who died in infancy. Private visitation and funeral. Interment in West Middletown Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Middletown Volunteer Fire Department.
