Robert W. McConnell, 71, of McDonald, died Friday, May 15, 1998, in St. Clair Memorial Hospital. Mr. McConnell was a shipper at American Steel Band in Heidelberg for 23 years and was employed by Glen Carbide in Carnegie for 20 years, retiring in 1989. Mr. McConnell was a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving with the 308th Fighter Squadron, 31st Fighter Group. On November 6, 1948, he married Catherine R. Snyder, who survives.
