Joseph W. Dowdy, 56, of Pittsburgh, formerly of McDonald, died Thursday, May 21, 1998, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Mr. Dowdy was a member of First Baptist Church of McDonald and the Fisherman's Club. He was a steelworker for American Brake Shoe in Meadow Lands for 15 years before the plant closed in 1976. Surviving are six brothers, William Dowdy, Eugene Bennett and Vernon Mack, all of Pittsburgh; James Dowdy of Moon Township, Louis Dowdy of Penn Hills and Richard Mack of McDonald; three sisters, Gloria Davis of Wilkinsburg, Virginia Mack Wallace of Washington and Sandy Dowdy of Nashville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
