Mary Delfrate, 87, of Ormond Beach, Fla., died Monday, May 25, 1998, in the Halifax Hospital Medical Center, Daytona Beach, Fla. Mrs. Delfrate, along with her late husband, founded Delfrate Packing Co. of Slovan, in 1925. They operated the packing plant together until they sold to American Foods in 1961. They moved to Florida in 1962, having lived in the Daytona area for the last 38 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church of Daytona Beach, and a former member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church of Burgettstown. Surviving are three daughters, Betty Jean Hartman of Burgettstown, Shirley Romans of Daytona Beach, and Marlene Fortune of Ashtabula, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Bendick Maslyk of Burgettstown and Margaret Bongiorni of Spring, Texas. Deceased are her husband, John Delfrate, who died March 4, 1996; two brothers, Martin and John Pompe; and a sister, Hanna Vietmeier.
