Allan C. "Boss" Nieminen, 77, of Buffalo, N.Y., died May 7, 1998, in Orlando, Fla., where he was a winter resident. Mr. Nieminen, a bus driver, graduated from Monessen High School in 1938 and played the French horn in the varsity band. He worked for Pittsburgh Steel in Monessen prior to moving to Buffalo. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a corporal in Battery B, 244 Field Artillery Battalion in Europe; and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2430 of Buffalo. He was also a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Buffalo. Mr. Nieminen retired after many years of service for the IRC (International Railway Co.), NFTA (Niagara Frontier Transit Co.), and NFT (Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority.) Surviving are his wife, Ethel Shaffer Nieminen, who he married May 16, 1953; a son, Norman Nieminen of Buffalo; a son, David Nieminen of Clover, S.C.; a sister, Lillian Nieminen Anderson of Grand Island, N.Y.; and a niece. Deceased are a sister, Linnea S. Kalvesmaki; and a nephew. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nazareth Lutheran School, Skillen and Wiley Street, Buffalo, NY 14207.
