Michael F. "Lefty" Hulpa, 87, of 636 Giffin Avenue, Canonsburg, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 26, 1998, in McMurray Hills Manor, McMurray. An avid fisherman, Mr. Hulpa lived most of his life in Canonsburg, where he was a member of St. Genevieve Roman Catholic Church. Prior to retirement, he had been a welder at the former Pennsylvania Transformer Co. in Canonsburg. On September 6, 1936, he married Sophia M. Prusinowski, who died December 25, 1985. Surviving are two daughters, Geraldine Melone of Cecil and Joyce Holland of Canonsburg; three grandsons, Michael Melone, David Melone and Mark Holland; a sister, Margaret Martys of Canonsburg; a brother, Joseph Hulpa of Houston; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
