Stanley T. Shankovich, 77, of Fayette Street, Washington, died at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 1998, in his home. Mr. Shankovich was a member of the Free Methodist Church of Washington. He had been employed in the maintenance department of Ball Glass and was previously employed by Universal Cyclops of Bridgeville. A graduate of Trinity High School, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. Mr. Shankovich had served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant during World War II with the quartermasters in the Pacific Theater and was a member of Edward Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion. On August 5, 1942, he married Elizabeth D. "Lib" Flint, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Richard S. Shankovich of Washington; three daughters, Margaret J. Shankovich, at home, Linda S. Craig of Washington and Phyllis Ann Irey of Claysville; three brothers, Ben Shankovich of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Walter Shankovich of Washington and Robert Shankovich of Pittsburgh; four sisters, Mary Rometo of Lincoln, Neb., and Josephine Olshack, Florence Raymond and Estelle Manes, all of Washington; five grandchildren, Darcie Glendenning, Dea Jaber, Clarissa Craig, Anthony Shankovich and Regina Irey; two stepgrandchildren, Richard and Michelle Irey; and three great-grandsons.
