Etta Catherine "Cass" Johnson, 80, of Washington, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday, May 1, 1998, in Washington Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker who enjoyed all types of crafts and stamp collecting. She was most fond of spending time with her family. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Washington and a former member of the Swedish Balder Lodge. On July 8, 1937, she married Arthur Everett Johnson, who died February 19, 1980. Surviving are four daughters, Betty J. Carpenter of Washington, Esther L. Finney of Houston, with whom she lived for the past two years, Donna Lee Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif., and Philena M. Stanley of Washington; a son, Arthur E. Johnson Jr. of Riverside, Ill.; a brother, Elmer Carter of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Naomi "Peg" Heacox of Iowa Park, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Deceased are a grandson, Russell E. Carpenter; two great-grandsons; a brother, Albert J. Carter; and a sister, Dorothy Maxine Carter, who died in infancy.
