Edward F. Ruffing, 78, of Charleroi, died Friday, May 1, 1998, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of California, a former member of Monessen Lions Club and a former scoutmaster of the Boy Scout Troop of Monessen. At the time of his death, Mr. Ruffing was president of Mon Valley Coin Club, of which he had been a member for 10 years. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was employed at the former Pages Steel Mill of Monessen until its closing in 1972. He was later employed as a maintenance engineer by Charleroi Area School District until his retirement in 1988. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are two daughters, Donna Costanza of McMurray and Debbie Stark of Eighty Four; three grandchildren, Dan Costanza, Lynn Kadilis and Dina Costanza; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Ruffing of Florida; and a sister, Norma Massafra of Monongahela.
