Kenneth Eugene Welling Jr., 46, of state Route 776, Jackson, Ohio, died Monday, November 9, 1998, at the Cleveland(Ohio) Clinic. Mr. Welling was director of Water and Waste Water for Jackson. He received his bachelor of science in science/microbiology from Ohio State University, where he was a member of the Ohio State University Alumni Association. Mr. Welling was a member of Masonic Portland Lodge 366, the Oak Hill Chapter Order of Eastern Star, the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the National Rifle Association, North American Hunting Club, Ohio Rural Water Association, the Water Environment Federation, Ohio Water Environment Association, the American Water Works Association and the Ohio Water Pollution Control Conference and served as chairman of Policy Committee for Solid Waste. He was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Ohio Water Environment Association Dean Stewart Award; the William P. Hatfield Waste Water Management Pollution Control Award presented by the Water Environment Federation; and was named Southeast Section Outstanding Operator of the Year in 1987. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are three sons, Matthew, Jonathan and Nathan Welling, all of Jackson; a daughter, Jennifer Welling of Jackson; two brothers, Kevin Welling of North Royalton and Kerry Welling of Parma, Ohio; a maternal grandfather, Merle Arnold of Clarksville; and an aunt, Connie Blue of Waynesburg.
