Rose Rita Gromacki, 86, of Springfield, Va., formerly of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, November 17, 1998, in Sleepy Hollow Manor Nursing Home, Annandale, Va., following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Gromacki graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, Washington, and worked at the former Continental Can Co. in Canonsburg. While living in Canonsburg, she was a member of St. Genevieve Roman Catholic Church. After moving to the Washington, D.C., area in the 1950s, she was a member of St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church. Mrs. Gromacki was a private secretary to a five-star general at the Pentagon in Arlington, Va., and also was employed at the Ford Foundation at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington. Surviving are a sister, Sophie Caruso of Canonsburg, and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a brother, Joseph Gromacki; and a sister, Mary O'Loughlin.
