Ralph S. Palmer, 72, of Avella, died Thursday, November 26, 1998, at his daughter's home in Burgettstown. Mr. Palmer was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater with Company C, 35th Tank Battalion, 4th Armored Division. He was a retired brick mason and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4496 in Wellsburg. Mr. Palmer was active in Avella Little League programs. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy J. Gore Palmer; two sons, Walter L. and Ralph W. Palmer, both of Avella; five daughters, Connie Somplatsky of Burgettstown, Linda M. Coffield and Kimberly Manon, both of Washington, and Shirley Riley and Caroll Stenson, both of Avella; five grandchildren; three brothers, Conrad Palmer, Paul Palmer of Wellsburg and Ernest Palmer of Pinellas Park, Fla.; and a sister, Barbara Almasy of Wellsburg.
