Charles W. Haschets Sr., 86, of 18 Howe Street, Coal Center, died at 1:59 p.m. Monday, November 2, 1998, in the home of his daughter, Trina Trozzo. Mr. Haschets was a resident of Coal Center for the past 50 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Belle Vernon. He retired as a millwright from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel's Monessen Plant. He was a hunting and gardening enthusiast. Surviving are two sons, Charles Haschets Jr. of Collinsburg and John Haschets of Washington; two daughters, Trina Trozzo of Stockdale and Gloria McDonough of Arnold City; two stepsons, Sam Smichnick of Lebanon and James Smichnick of the state of California; a stepdaughter, Linda Barncord of Belle Vernon; three brothers, Andrew of New Mexico, Samuel of Pittsburgh and John "Buck" Haschets of Monessen; three sisters, Anne Klein of Butler, Mary Pollocino of New York and Julia Resovich of Monessen; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Deceased are his wife, Mary Lutes Smichnick Haschets, who died May 11, 1989; a brother, Michael Haschets; a sister, Sophie Sokol; and a grandson, Michael Bair.
