John C. Descutner Sr., 79, of McDonald, died Sunday, November 29, 1998, in Allegheny University Hospitals-Canonsburg. He had been a coal miner for Disco Coal. When it closed in 1967, Mr. Descutner founded a contracting business and worked for the O'Hommel, Dravoe and Mallet companies. He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and United Mine Workers of America. On February 16, 1941, he married Ruth E. Hardie, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, John C. Descutner Jr. of Moon Township and William H. Descutner of McDonald; a daughter, Mary Catherine Garrett of McDonald; four grandchildren, Thomas C. Garrett, Laura E. Hendal, Joy L. Descutner and David L. Descutner; and six great-grandchildren. Deceased are three brothers, Joseph, William and Nesbit Descutner.
