Mildred Ann McCreight, 39, of East Washington Borough, died Saturday, November 7, 1998, in her home following a long battle with cancer. Mrs. McCreight grew up on the family farm in Denbo. She graduated from Bethlehem-Center High School in 1976 and from Penn State University in 1980. She participated in a dairy operation with her father until August 22, 1981, when she married John W. McCreight, who survives. She worked in the luggage department of J.C. Penney Inc. Department Store, Washington Mall, and in the dairy operations of Sam and Beverly Minor near The Spring House. In 1994, she established and had operated until the time of her death Mildred A. McCreight Bookshop in East Washington at the corner of East Beau Street and South Wade Avenue. Mrs. McCreight had a lifelong interest in entomology and worked in mounting and preserving insects at Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Pittsburgh. She was a musician and played sousaphone and baritone horn with the National Band of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. Post 47, Uniontown. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Denbo until her marriage, when she became a member of The Church of the Covenant, Presbyterian, U.S.A., Washington. In addition to her husband and parents, surviving are a son, John McAnulty McCreight; a daughter, Amanda Rose McCreight; two brothers, Thomas Glynn McAnulty of Denbo and Bruce Eric McAnulty of Bentleyville; two sisters, Vera Sue McAnulty of Edgewood, Allegheny County, and Virginia Jane McAnulty of Oakland, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
