William E. Shute, 72, of McDonald, died Friday, October 9, 1998, in Gilchrist Medical Center, Baltimore, Md. Mr. Shute graduated from Penn State University and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an inspector for the Allegheny County Health Department for 20 years and was past chairman of the Allegheny County Conservation District. He was a farmer. On July 12, 1949, he married Susanna T. Mutton, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Gary A. Shute of Phoenix, Md.; two grandchildren; five brothers, James of Ashland, Ore., Robert and Richard, both of San Diego, Calif., George of Oberlin, Ohio, and Frank of Sarasota, Fla.; and two sisters, Miriam Fulton of Philadelphia and Alice Bartlett of Sarasota.
