James Frederick Fox, 96, of Mt. Morris R.D.1, died at 10:10 p.m. Friday, October 16, 1998, in his home. Mr. Fox was a member of Buckeye Methodist Church but had been attending Fox Chapel Church in Mt. Morris. He attended Mt. Morris area schools and was a former member of the former Odd Fellows Lodge 569. He was also a member of the United Mine Workers of America, Osage Local 4043. Mr. Fox worked for Consolidated Coal Co., Osage Mine No. 3, before retiring in 1966. He had previously worked as a foreman for Christopher Coal Co. in Maidsville, W.Va. He had also worked in the oil fields of Wyoming, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Surviving are his wife, Lois Marie Core Fox, whom he married October 21, 1928; a daughter, Marlyn Kennedy of Mt. Morris R.D.1; a son, the Rev. Robert G. Fox of Mt. Morris R.D.1; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Alleman of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a brother, George B. Fox of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are his foster parents, Mabel and J.C. Lemley, with whom he made his home for more than 30 years; two sisters, Nellie Phillips and Lovisa Fox, who died in childhood; four brothers, Roy L., Albert W., Thomas L. and Furman L.
