Floyd O. "Flip" King, 75, of West Alexander, died Friday, October 16, 1998, in his home. He was a member of West Alexander Presbyterian Church. Mr. King attended Washington and Hickory schools and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942, serving aboard a LST in the European Theater during World War II. He was honorably discharged in January 1946. Mr. King was employed as a machine operator at Wheeling Machine Products, Wheeling (Elm Grove), W.Va., for 35 years until his retirement in 1983. A West Alexander councilman for several years, he also served, including several years as chairman, on West Alexander Municipal Water Authority, from its inception in September 1978 until his death. Mr. King was a member of West Alexander American Legion Post 656, and he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and watching football, particularly the Pittsburgh Steelers. In June 1946, in Washington, he married Mary F. Atkinson, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Susie King and Rebecca Bromley, both of Washington; four grandchildren, Donald R. King Jr. of Claysville, Todd M. King, Bethany S. and Scott J. Bromley, all of Washington; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. King was the last of his immediate family. Deceased, in addition to his parents, are four brothers, John E., William H., Woodrow W. and Thomas L. King; and four sisters, Anna Mae Phillips, Helen Dicks, Libb Baumgardner and Mary Mandish.
