Edna Alice King Parfitt, 92, of Jefferson, died Sunday, October 18, 1998, in Jefferson.

She was born June 5, 1906, in Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland County, a daughter of Edward B. and Lydia Caroline Brown King.
Mrs. Parfitt graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1924 and attended Indiana Normal School, Indiana.
Her early life was spent in Mt. Pleasant. In 1932, she moved to Pitt Gas and then to Clarksville. In 1975, she moved to Fredericktown; in 1982, she moved to Carmichaels; and in 1997, she moved to Jefferson.
She worked as a correspondent for many years for the Waynesburg Democrat Messenger, Brownsville Telegraph, Irwin Evening Standard and the Washington Observer-Reporter.
Mrs. Parfitt was active in Clarksville Christian Church for many years, having served as deaconess, elder, Sunday school teacher, choir member and as a member of its Christian Women's Fellowship. She was a former member of Fredericktown United Methodist Church, and at the time of her death, she was a member of Carmichaels Christian Church.
She was a member and past Noble Grand of the IOOF Rebekah Lodge of Clarksville.
On June 5, 1926, she married Edward Parfitt, who died December 26, 1981.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol Knight of Fredericktown and Charlene Kramer of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Christine Huff, Robin Knight, Robert E. Knight, Scott R. Kramer Jr. and Joey B. Kramer; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Edward Parfitt, who died in infancy; three brothers, the Rev. George King, James and Norman King; and two sisters, Mary McClelland and Ruth Metzger.
