John Stewart Hunter, 78, of Uniontown, died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 1998, in his home following a lengthy illness. Mr. Hunter was a member of Calvary Temple Church of Washington and was a former employee of McGraw Edison. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. Mr. Hunter received three service ribbons with three bronze stars and a Good Conduct Medal. On July 26, 1948, he married Pearl L. Thomas, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Cynthia Blair of Uniontown; three sisters, Olive Pauline Stevenson of Ronhert Park, Calif., Genevieve Nann Boyd of Uniontown and Sarah Jane Porter of Carnegie; three grandchildren, Tiffany Danielle, Trudy Lee and Ronald Lee Cole; and four great-grandchildren.
