Ira E. Bebout Jr., 71, of Venetia, died at 3:40 a.m. Sunday, October 25, 1998, in his home, following a two-year illness. He and his family owned and operated Bebout Farm in Peters Township, where he was active as long as his health permitted. The farm has been in the family and farmed continuously since 1871. Mr. Bebout was a graduate of Peters Township High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Peters Creek United Presbyterian Church and Library Sportsmen Association. He was interested in Civil War history, particularly in the Battle of Gettysburg, where one of his ancestors had died. On November 19, 1949, in Peters Creek Baptist Church in Library, he married Dorothy Trax, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Thomas E. Bebout of Venetia; a daughter, Carol Bebout Coffield of Venetia; and two grandchildren, Scott and Jennifer Bebout. There will be no public visitation, and burial in Monongahela Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 1, at Peters Creek United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Rus Howard officiating.
