Charles L. Gardner Sr., 70, of 38 Maple Street, Muse, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday, October 23, 1998, in Washington Hospital. He had lived in the Muse area for past 35 years and was Catholic. Mr. Gardner served with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. He worked for 35 years in the maintenance department of C.E. Cast Combustion Engineering, Muse, before his retirement. He was a member of the AFL-CIO steelworkers union. Mr. Gardner was a hunter and farmer. On April 24, 1948, he married Theresa Baldassarri, who died August 12, 1990. Surviving two sons, Clyde T. Gardner of Washington and Charles L. Gardner Jr. of Muse; a daughter, Victoria J. Krenzelak of Muse; four brothers, James Gardner of DuBois, Frank Gardner of Penfield, William Gardner of Byrndale and Sam Gardner of Waterford; seven sisters, Eva Armstrong and Margaret Narby, both of Emporium, Edna Pelton of Penfield, Pearl Biondi of Bridgeville, Jane Nesbitt of Seymor, Ind., Ruth Challengesworth of Coneaut Lake, and Laura Lovendusky of Force; six grandchildren, Deena McKinney, Kevin Boyle, Jill Rothka, Dannielle Gardner, Brian Boyle and Jackie Gardner; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
