Wanda L. Dixon, 97, of West Alexander, died Saturday, October 24, 1998, in Wheeling (W.Va.) Hospital.

She was born July 10, 1901, in Limestone, W.Va., a daughter of Gilmore and Mary Etta Coffield Lyons.
She was a member of West Alexander Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Dixon was a graduate of Triadelphia (W.Va.) High School and West Liberty Normal College in West Virginia. In her younger years, she was a teacher in the West Alexander area and was employed at Stone and Thomas Department Store, Wheeling, in addition to being a lifelong homemaker.
On July 1, 1922, in Greensburg, she married Alva R. Dixon, who died November 29, 1996.
Surviving are two daughters, Nita Wheat and Betty Davis, both of West Alexander; two sisters, Ruth Williams of Dayton, Ohio, and Mary Burton of Moundsville, W.Va.; three grandsons, Robert Wheat Jr., Richard Wheat and Leif Dixon; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are a son, James Lee Dixon; five brothers, Chauncey, Jolly, B. Frank, Emmett and William Lyons; and a sister, Hattie Rogers.
