John A. Butler, 85, of 3501 Meadow View Boulevard, New Castle, died at 12:15 a.m. Monday, October 26, 1998, in Jameson Memorial Hospital, New Castle. Mr. Butler was a member of First Methodist Church, New Castle. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was employed as a steamfitter by Plumber and Steamfitters Union Local 115. He enjoyed singing and was a member of the Spebsqsa Barber Shop Singers. Surviving are his wife, Mary L. Reitter Butler; a daughter, Kathy Smulick of New Castle; a son, John Wayne Butler of New Castle; four grandchildren; and a brother, George Butler of Venice, Fla. Deceased is a brother, Marion Butler.
