Mildred M. Cobbett, 83, of McDonald, died Sunday, October 25, 1998, in Vencor Hospital, Oakdale. Mrs. Cobbett was a graduate of McDonald High School and retired in 1978 from McDonald Elementary School where she was employed as a custodian. She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, McDonald, where she was a deacon and leader of the junior church. She was a member and past president of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 485, member and past president of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 567 Ladies Auxiliary, past district president of District 24 of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, member and past worthy matron of Order of Easter Star Chartiers Chapter 97, mother adviser of McDonald Chapter of Rainbow Girls, member and past president of the McDonald Women's Club, member and past president of the McDonald Senior Citizens Center and a pink lady for Mayview State Hospital. On June 12, 1935, she married Victor E. Cobbett, who died January 7, 1973. Surviving are a son, James Lee Cobbett of Elizabethtown, Ky.; two daughters, Karen Cobbett Altman of New York, N.Y., and Gene Marie Gastgeb of McDonald; and three grandchildren, Patrick and Megan Gastgeb and Jonathan Altman.
