William H. Pollock, 85, of 403 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, died at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 1998, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg. Mr. Pollock's early life was in Washington County, but spent most of his life in Greene County. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific and Asiatic theaters of operation. Mr. Pollock, a hunter and fisherman, worked for 42 years at Equitable Gas Co., retiring as a tire foreman in 1978. He was a member of James Farrell American Legion Post 330 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793, both of Waynesburg, and was a member of the Methodist Church. His wife, Margaret Hanford Pollock, died September 24, 1989. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Wood of Waynesburg, and a grandson, Shawn Bryan Wood. A sister, Louise Beglin, is deceased.
