John "Porky" Joseph Vitchoff Jr., 71, of 681 High Street, California, died at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 1998, in Brownsville General Hospital. Mr. Vitchoff was educated in the California Area schools and was a member of the United Christian Church, California. A World War II veteran, Mr. Vitchoff was a member of the JFK American Legion Post 377, California, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in West Brownsville. Mr. Vitchoff came to California 65 years ago from Latrobe. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and California Area School District. Fifty years ago on October 10, he married Pauline Harrison. Mrs. Vitchoff survives. Also surviving are two sons, John Patrick Vitchoff of California and Daniel Scott Vitchoff of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Dr. Lorraine Gayle Vitchoff of California; a sister, Marie Kobetic of Roseville, Mich.; and a grandchild, Brandi Lynn Vitchoff.
