Virginia M. Murphy, 82, of Wind Ridge, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 1998, in Franklin Care Center, Waynesburg. She had been in failing health for the past several months. Mrs. Murphy had been a resident of the Wind Ridge area since 1934. She was a member of Harmony Presbyterian Church in Wind Ridge, where she had served as a pianist, deacon, elder and clerk of sessions. She also was a member of Richhill Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and Wind Ridge Needle Club. She enjoyed gardening and sewing as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Murphy was the valedictorian of the 1934 graduating class at Cameron High School. On April 7, 1934, she married Wilbur Myron Murphy, who died June 21, 1986. Surviving are a daughter, JoAnn Yoders of Holbrook R.D.1; a son, Gary Murphy, at home; and two grandsons, Richard L. Yoders and David E. Yoders. Deceased are two brothers, Willis and Charles Morris; and a sister, Opal Roth. Mrs. Murphy was the last of her immediate family.
