Thomas C. Columbus, 74, of Ashland, Ky., died Sunday, October 4, 1998, in Kings Daughter's Medical Center, Ashland. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources. Mr. Columbus served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 10017 and American Legion Post 76. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Ashland and the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Columbus was married twice. His first wife, Leona Sheaffer Columbus, died in 1966. Surviving is his second wife, Virginia Burns Columbus. Also surviving are two daughters, Susan D. Columbus of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Christina M. Columbus of Marysville; five sons, Thomas C. of Harrisburg, Joseph A. of Marysville, James E. of Lexington, Ky., Allen L. of Reading and William F. Columbus of Carlisle; a sister, Dolores Paul of Cecil; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
