George R. Kubovcik Jr., 79, of 235 Greenview Drive, Lancaster, formerly of Washington, died unexpectedly of natural causes Tuesday, October 6, 1998, in his home. While residing in Washington County, he had been employed as a deputy sheriff for 10 1/2 years and spent another 10 1/2 years as an adult probation officer prior to his retirement. Mr. Kubovcik was a member of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 of Washington for 35 years and was a fourth-degree member of Knight of Columbus, Council 5826, Bentleyville. He was a member of the Pulaski Club, Polish American Citizens Club and the Slovak Club, all of Washington. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Kubovcik served with the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942-45. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Lancaster and was a former member of St. Hilary Catholic Church in Washington. Mr. Kubovcik has been a resident of Lancaster since December 1993. Surviving is his wife, Eleanor Stanley Kubovcik. They were married 57 years on August 9. Also surviving are a son, George B. Kubovcik of Raleigh, N.C.; two daugthers, Diana L. Kubovcik of Columbus, Ohio, and Deborah M. Lee of Lancaster; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Kubovcik of California; and a sister, Mildred Patalan of Springfield, Ore. A daughter, Jean C. Magnone, is deceased.
