Mary Elizabeth Eakin Cole, 83, of Mansfield, Ohio, died Thursday, October 8, 1998, in Kristy's Kare in Mansfield, following an extended illness. Mrs. Cole lived most of her adult life in the Massillon-Canton, Ohio, area. She taught elementary school in Pennsylvania, Massillon, Fairless School District and the North Canton School System, where she became principal of Northwood School. Mrs. Cole was nominated and named Outstanding Elementary School Principal for the state of Ohio in the mid-1970s. Surviving are a son, Thomas L. Cole of Mansfield; two granddaughters, Lee Anne Cole Stoddart and Dr. Jennifer Elizabeth Cole Meier; a sister, Martha Patterson of Jollytown; and two great-granddaughters.
