John P. Tomay, 89, of Carmichaels, died at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, 1998, in Rolling Meadow Care Center, Waynesburg, following a two-year illness. Mr. Tomay was a retired coal miner with the Shannopin Mine, Bobtown, and was a member of United Mine Workers of America. In 1929, he married Nell M. Rehanek, who died in 1973. Surviving are a son, John J. Tomay of Carmichaels; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pauline Yankura of Fredericktown. Deceased is a sister, Margaret Dinsmore. He was born June 3, 1909, in Grays Landing, a son of Steve and Mary Berish Tomay.
