Frances Marie VanGilder, 80, of Washington, died at 8 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 1998, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington, following a brief illness. Mrs. VanGilder joined West Washington United Methodist Church in 1930. She formerly served as church financial secretary, board member, Sunday school teacher, and as a member and treasurer of the United Methodist Women's group. She was an active supporter of Bentleyville Camp Meeting and had served as the financial secretary for 25 years. On June 6, 1939, she married Charles W. VanGilder, who died September 15, 1996. Surviving are two daughters, Lois M. Jones of Wilmore, Ky., and Ruth E. VanGilder, with whom she made her home; a brother, John Bradford of Zanesville, Ohio; three grandchildren, the Rev. Ray Jones, the Rev. Bert Jones and Ruth Jones; four great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. A brother, Walter Bradford, is deceased.
