Ivan Neel Forgie

Ivan Neel Forgie, 69, of Duncan Avenue, Washington, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 1998, in his home.

He was born April 21, 1929, in Washington, a son of Ivan F. and Marie Polan Forgie.
Mr. Forgie was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and was on the Session and Building Committee.
He was a 1947 graduate of Washington High School and served in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division, in Europe as a military policeman. After returning home from his tour of duty, he worked as an installer at Bell Telephone Co., retiring in 1991 after 35 years of service.
Mr. Forgie was a member and past president of Washington Church Dartball League and a member of many softball teams, including Faith United Presbyterian Church, Bell Telephone and Allegheny Senior League. He was a member of West End Buccaneers, Old Timers Baseball League and the Alpine Club, where he bowled, as well as several other leagues, including Route 19 Bowl. He won the 1994-95 Bowling Congress League High Average award.
He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, Bell Atlantic Volunteers Fort Pitt Chapter, Bell of Pennsylvania Diamond State Telephone 100,000 Mile Club Member and the National Trails Council, which he served as a past president.
Mr. Forgie was an active board member for Wabellco Credit Union, a member of the Federation of Telephone Workers of Pennsylvania and Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175, where he served as an honor guard on the firing squad.
On July 20, 1951, he married Joyce Davis Forgie, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William I. Forgie and David N. Forgie, both of Washington; two brothers, Robert F. Forgie of San Leandro, Calif., and Samuel Forgie of Millville, N.J.; a sister, Elsie Paul of Washington; and four grandchildren, McCall, Lauren, Carlee and Jordan.
