Avis A. Funk, 91, of Waynesburg R.D.1 (Lippencott), died at 2:30 a.m. Friday, September 18, 1998, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. Mrs. Funk was a member of the former South Ten Mile Baptist Church. She was a housewife and devoted to her husband of 75 years, Lawrence Leslie Funk, whom she married August 4, 1923. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Betty Jean Mox and Patty Lee Smitley, both of Waynesburg R.D.1, (Lippencott); eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Deceased are a daughter, Bertha Jane Willard, who died October 12, 1997; four sisters, Bertha Rush, Dorothy Phillips, Nellie Staggers and Blanche Kramer; four brothers, Harland, William, Clinton and George Rush; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Funk was the last of her immediate family. All services for Mrs. Funk will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Lippencott resident marked 75th wedding anniversary
She was born May 6, 1907, in Graysville, a daughter of Joseph Abraham and Sarah Ann Morris Rush, and had been a resident of the Lippencott area since 1945.
