Ruth C. Chivers, 88, of Titusville, formerly of 138 Hall Avenue, Washington, died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 1998, in Titusville.

She was born May 22, 1910, in Wind Ridge, a daughter of John and Nancy Thompson Courtwright.
At the age of 1, her family moved to Good Intent in Washington County, and when she was 6, she moved to Morris Township, where she attended school at East Finley and Morris Township.
She was a member of the former Central United Presbyterian Church, which is now Faith United Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the Faith Bible Class and Dorcas sewing group of the church.
For several years, she operated a personal care home in Washington, retiring in 1980.
On April 25, 1946, she married to Glenn R. Chivers Sr., who died July 30, 1963.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Surviving are a son, Clyde P. Courtwright of Titusville; three grandchildren, Sherri Lynn Chotiner, James A. Courtwright and Diane M. Beichner; two great-grandsons; two nieces; and one great-nephew.
Deceased are three brothers, Earl Fred, Elzie F. and John Herschell Courtwright; a sister, Bertha J. Rawson; and a sister, a brother and a twin sister who died in infancy.
