Arthur "Tut" Cornell, 83, of Canonsburg, died at 3:23 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 1998, in Allegheny University Hospitals-Canonsburg. A lifelong resident of the Canonsburg and Strabane areas, he was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg. Mr. Cornell was a member of American Legion Post 902 of Houston, where he held the office of first vice president, was a member of the executive board and was the sergeant of the honor guard. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg, SNPJ Lodge 138 of Strabane and White Eagles Society of Canonsburg. Surviving are two sons, James R. Malardie of Cecil and Robert A. Malardie of Eighty Four; a daughter, Doreen Smittle of Canonsburg; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. On October 12, 1962, he married Ann M. Malardie, who died August 9, 1994. Deceased are four brothers, Joseph, John, Frank and James Cornell; and two sisters, Margaret Cornell and Louise Heatley.
