Morgan R. Davis, 90, of Mather, died Saturday, September 19, 1998, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg.

He was born November 10, 1907, in Uniontown, a son of Thomas and Louisa Doran Davis.
He attended North Union High School in Uniontown and Penn State University for mining certification.
Mr. Davis was a mine foreman and member of the mine rescue team for Mather Colleries until his retirement in 1962. He then lived and worked in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Connecticut, California, New Mexico and Florida in apartment management.
Mr. Davis lived in Mather for 66 years. He was a member and elder at Clarksville Christian Church and an elder emeritus and Sunday school teacher at Mather Christian Church. He was a member of Clarksville Lions Club, Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, the Pittsburgh Consistory, Jefferson Toastmasters Club and Morgan Township School Board. He was a 32-degree mason at Waynesburg F&AM Lodge 153, a district representative for the Salvation Army, a tuba player in the Mather community band, a vocalist with the Singing Churchmen, a past president and board member of Jefferson-Morgan School Board, a former township auditor for Morgan Township and a troop committeeman for the Boy Scouts.
On November 18, 1927, he married Sarah Twyford, who died January 6, 1988.
Surviving are four sons, Robert Davis of Westport, Conn., Joseph A. Davis of Clarksville, Thomas C. Davis of Maple Heights, Ohio, and Reed M. Davis of Athens, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois Nell Connell of Masontown.
Deceased are his stepmother, Jeannie Morgan Davis; a daughter, Nancy Jean Davis; a grandson, Brian Davis; a great-granddaughter, Tiffany Davis; three sisters, Jessie Beattie, Virginia Stevenson and Betty Larden; and a brother, William Davis.
