Mary Jane Sims, 87, of Washington, died Sunday, September 20, 1998, in Beaver Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. She was a member of Church of the Covenant and a former member of the Current Events Club and the Duncan-Miller Society. She worked at the Washington County Courthouse until 1939. In January 1939, in Wellsburg, W.Va., she married Howard C. Sims Sr., who died in 1969. She and her husband owned and operated Sims Lumber Co. in Washington and H.C. Sims farm in Lone Pine. Surviving are a son, Howard Clark Sims Jr. of Uniontown; a daughter, Ellen A. Sims of Washington; two grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to her husband, are three sisters, Katherine Gaido, Theresa Mazur and one sister who died in infancy; and a brother, Matthew Piacenza.
