Robert A. Yanak, 67, of Low Hill, died Saturday, September 19, 1998, in Washington Hospital. A 1948 graduate of Waynesburg High School, Mr. Yanak served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955, during the Korean War. Mr. Yanak worked for 33 years as a coordinator for Columbia Gas Transmission Co. before retiring in 1989. He also was employed in the admissions department of The Meadows racetrack for 20 years before retiring in 1996. Mr. Yanak was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lippencott and had served as chaplain of Hancock McCune Horn American Legion Post 705 of Centerville. A 36-year resident of Low Hill, he enjoyed golf, bowling, horse racing and jigsaw puzzles. On March 7, 1953, he married Charlene Stilwell, who survives. Also surviving, in addition to his mother and wife, are two daughters, Kathleen Stay and Pamela Sckena, both of Low Hill; two sons, Thomas and Theodore Yanak, both of Low Hill; seven grandchildren, Brian and Rachel Stay, Bobby, Tyler and Teddy Yanak, Christopher and Justin Sckena; a brother, Michael Yanak of Waynesburg; and a sister, Betty Jean Rinehart of San Antonio, Texas.
